Natural History Museum

Grandma Ellen and I took Sam back to see the butterflies at the Natural History Museum this morning. We last took Sam there when he was 5 months old (see February 19, 2009, post). This time, he wasn't so sure about all these "things" flying around at his level, and really wanted to be held the whole time.

A beautiful butterfly in a sea of colors...

Mommy and Sam :)

Sam looking a little unsure of the whole thing.

And I don't blame him. Look at the size of that moth!

Did you know that butterflies taste with their feet?? That's a yummy pineapple!

We wandered around the museum after we finished looking at the butterflies. Sam enjoyed touching this giant amethyst. (Note the "please touch" sign.) He then enjoyed removing the sign in front of the amethyst and trying to throw it. Next exhibit, please...

Posing in front of a "thing-y", as Grandma Ellen called it.

The famous elephant in the rotunda! Sam was not scared at all of the giant elephant, but he was terrified of the butterflies...

He might've been a little scared of this man, too.

Fossils of dinosaurs!

Time to go home. I love the look on Sam's face in this picture.
